I love coconut milk but sometimes, the taste can be a little off for certain cooking applications. I’m also not one of the people who can just drink coconut milk – it’s too strong for me or something I guess. For this reason, I have tried to find a nice-tasting, affordable, Whole30-friendly almond milk for the last year. I believe my quest is complete with this recent purchase of Califia Farms Unsweetened Pure Almond Milk.
Can we first talk about the price, y’all? I picked this up for under $4 at Lucky Supermarket the other day while I was picking up some meat and kitty litter. This isn’t a budget blog for nothing, I do enjoy a good deal. Most quality almond milks I’ve seen are over $5 easily, and they aren’t even compliant!
This brand is already refrigerated, which I really enjoy. I don’t know what it is, but I do not trust shelf-stable milk, even if it isn’t dairy. And when I drink it by itself, it has to be very cold as well.
The taste of this brand is quite good, mild and not overpoweringly “almond-y”. It hides well in cooking and conducts itself properly and stays stable and predictable when using thickeners.
Lastly, I just really appreciate finding a quality product that has compliant ingredients (almonds and water) after searching for so long. Thank you, Califia Farms!
